Chopper is a 14wk old French Bulldog puppy who needs your help. His first attempt at walking downstairs resulted in a tumble that sent him to the ER. He has a fracture in the joint of his elbow which is going to require surgery ASAP to prevent any further growth plate damage.

This is Izzy.
Izzy was diagnosed with Hansen’s Type 1 Inter-Verterbral Disc Disease (IVDD). For many frenchie owners this diagnosis is a nightmare, since if not treated on time it may leave the pup paralysed. And the treatment itself is very expensive.
The vet said that Izzy needs MRI before anything can be done to help her get better. The procedures are $2000. She is such a sweet pup and her mom is desperate to help her!

On Thursday, May 3rd, SNORT was contacted about a beautiful 5 year old black masked fawn French Bulldog who had been dropped at a vet clinic to be euthanized due to a back injury. Sadly, like all too many Frenchies, Nina Simone had injured her back and lost use of her hind legs. Because Nina’s former owner waited nearly a whole week to get her into a vet (and when she finally did, it was to euthanize her), the chances of Nina recovering any movement in her hind end were extremely slim…Luckily, at the vet instead of putting her down, they started to look for a rescue - one of the rescues they’ve contacted was S.N.O.R.T.
Nina arrived to the foster care, and soon magic began: when no one else hoped for Nina to walk again, she stood up on her own not once but twice! Her foster mom rushed her to the specialists, where after a second exam they were told - Nina needs a surgery, but there is 90% of chance she will walk again!
May 18th the surgery was performed and went extremely well. Nina is recovering fast. Unlike the budjet of S.N.O.R.T., unfortunately. Please consider donating to help cover the expenses of Nina’s surgery and future therapy to help her regain strength in her hind legs.

One of our followers, Heather, sent me a link to Lilac’s story. She said it broke her heart, and I should admit, after reading it, I am tearing up as well.
Here is why…
Lilac was a breeder dog. She was advertised on Craigslist and purchased from Craigslist. When her buyer got her to the vet and saw what kind of condition Lilac was in, she called FBRN.
Lilac has problems. She was clearly bred until she couldn’t be bred any more. According to the vet, who lives deep in puppy mill country where vets have seen these things all too often, she was given “home-made” c-sections. A lot of kitchen table c-sections. She also has an oozing sore on her back that appears to have been a growth or cyst that it appears someone tried to cut off with scissors. One of her mammary glands is weeping. Her teeth are in bad shape, and they are worn down from chewing on her crate. She has no tear production in one eye and needs ointment and anti-biotics. Thankfully, she is heartworm negative.
Not surprisingly, Lilac is distrustful of humans, but she is eerily compliant. There is no spark of light in her eyes, and she has no spirit. She likes other dogs.
Lilac may never be a dog who can fully trust people. There will probably not be a long line of people waiting to adopt Lilac. It may be a year or two before an applicant comes along who wants a six year old with few teeth and the history Lilac has, but we know that someone is out there for Lilac because someone is always out there for our dogs. HOPE and FAITH UPDATE: The girls did well overnight. Their systems are adjusting to good nutrition so they are making a big mess as you might imagine. They are eating small meals every 3 hours and going out to potty every 1 hour. Their small issues include infected/yeasty face folds, raw tail pockets, yeasty feet, pressure sores, ear infections and Hope has ulcers and dry eye on both eyes. Faith is the more outgoing one, but both girls are timid. Hope mostly stays huddled in a little ball. Hope’s legs are very bowed/deformed and will probably not recover the correct shape. Our goal for Hope is to put weight on her and muscle mass too. She is borrowing a sweater for now from her foster sister and seems to like it. Faith will make her recovery faster than Hope, but we are on the right path for both of them. Hope is just one of the saddest little frogs I have ever seen, but I don’t think her spirit is broken. If we can get her over some of the exisisting medical issues I am sure she can make a full recovery body and spirit!

Hope and Faith were abandoned in the apartment in Houston, TX where they were destined to starve to death… Luckily, a good Samaritan found these two and brought to Short Mugs Rescue Squad - the rescue organisation in Texas. Skinny, dehydrated, scared of everything and everybody, but still alive, frenchie girls started the new chapter of their lives. Despite their young age (girls are 2-4 y.o.) they have been bred several times. Neither of them is microchipped. They both spend a few days at the vet and now were released to the foster care where they will stay until there is some meat on these bones and all the medical issues are solved. It will definitely take a while for them to fully recover and be put for adoption.

Volunteers of Short Mugs Rescue Squad picked up these 2 girls that were found left to die in an abandoned apartment. We have no idea how long they have been alone…
Red pied girl is now named Hope, her brindle sister is Faith. Hope cannot walk and when volunteer picked her up to put her in the car she pooped on herself. She is very ill. Faith is in better shape than Hope. She is 16.8 lbs and can walk. She protects Hope and they are very bonded. She also has pressure sores on her rear.
After visiting the vet Hope and Faith are both on IV Fluids. Both girls were negative for intestinal parasites and heartworms (a miracle)!!! Hope is around 2-3 and Faith is around 4 yrs old. Both girls look to have been confined in a cage and that is why they have the pressure sores and both have been bred a lot. Their sores are open and oozing, so they will be getting antibiotic injections. Neither had a microchip. Neither are spayed. The vet has sent out extensive bloodwork and the results will be known tomorrow and both girls will be getting xrayed tomorrow. They are stressed out and the vet wants to get them more stable before doing anything else. Hope is too weak to stand and her anal tone is very poor. Her poop is just falling out. Besides the extreme emaciation her body seems to be ok so we are hoping a good diet will help solve her issues. The vet did not find any neurological reasons for the weakness or lack of anal tone. Once bloodwork and xrays are back we will know more and have a better idea of what else will need to be done. They will be at the vet for at least a few days. Getting them healthy and strong is the immediate goal then down the road they will have the routine things like vaccines, microchips and spays.

Oscar, poor little guy was diagnosed with Lymphoma – a terminal cancer – in addition to a raging skin infection. FBRN has an update from Oscar’s brave foster momma for you.
“He is being treated for his skin. He had a culture done and it is not MRSA, thankfully. He is showing improvement very slowly, but at least it is some. We are waiting to do a biopsy until the infection is somewhat under control. His biopsy will also be pretty costly as he will most likely need two…a skin biopsy and a lymph node biopsy.”
You’ll notice from the bottom row of photos that even with just a few days of new antibiotics from the dermatologist, his skin is already starting to heal. Oscar loves human attention. His foster momma pets him ever so gently, takes it super slow in the bath tub, feeds him satin balls from her hand, and makes cozy blankets for him to snuggle with. Oscar no doubt has all the love and attention he could possibly need, but what we’re lacking is…any guesses? Money. Please donate today to help with his vet bills. I just couldn’t pass by this.
This is little Bruno, he seems like a pit-bull pup. He was found discarded in an alley in Chicago at 4 weeks old. Someone just threw him away, because he had no movement in his rear legs, therefore - didn’t deserve a chance. The kind heart picked him up and brought to a Castaway Pet Rescue. He remains under their patronage and is just a happiest cutest puppy, who loves everybody and where everybody love him. At the Shelter they thought he will be the one of that funny dogs on wheels, but then the magic started…
When Bruno first came to his foster home the vet said he had no feeling below his back. He was having no controlled bowel movements and he was having no controlled movement of this legs.
After his first therapy session he wagged his tail.
After his second therapy session he is now attempting to move his legs. The foster family reports now that they need potty pads because he is actually now going to the bathroom versus before it was just dripping out when it got full.
Bruno really does show us that anything is possible. Please chipin for his rehabilitation, so he continues to receive acupuncture and massages and hopefully eventually will run on his own 4 legs! DONATE HERE

Kirby is a 2 year old French Bulldog. He was recently diagnosed with having a large mass in his ear canal, which has caused his ear to be very infected and painful. He will need the mass removed from his ear, and may even need to have his entire ear canal removed, depending on how much damage there is. The surgery is estimated to cost around $2000, which his family just cannot afford. It has been a rough year for them, his mom already spent over $1500 in veterinary costs taking Kirby to the vet for his re-occurring ear infections. His family have tried many different medications, but surgery appears to be the only way to solve the problem.
They are already half way there to pay the vet bill! Come on people! Your $5 can help this cute fellow to become healthy again and his mom & dad - keep a wrinkled face member of the family.
